Design It Up! (7)

Design It Up! is a feature which helps you learn handy little tricks to tweak up your blog. Today's little tip is how to change your favicon. In case you do not know, a favicon is that the little icon located next to your URL:

With this simple little trick, you can easily add little more personality to your blog. Here is how it is done:

1) First, you will need to locate or create an image that you wish to use for your favicon. The image will need to be sized at about 16 x 16 to 32 x 32 in order to fit properly. In addition, the image needs to saved as either a jpg, png, or gif file.

2.) Once you have the image how you like it, upload it to an online storage site such as Photobucket. After it has been uploaded, get the URL address to image and put it aside for later use.

3) Next, log into your Blogger account, if you have not already, and go to "Layout," then "Edit HTML."

4) Within your HTML, look for the Head tag: </head>. Directly above this tag paste the following code:

<link href='image URL' rel='shortcut icon'/>

For the image URL, you will paste the link that you created earlier for your image.

5) After this is complete, you may now "Preview" your changes. If it has appeared to your liking, just click "Save" and you are done. Easy Peasy!

Amy, I can't get it to work either. I've tried researching it further online, to no avail. *sigh*

But I won't give up. This is such a great idea.
