The book Shadow Tag is one in which a wife becomes a master manipulator of her controlling husband, no small feat. Its most interesting quality is how this main character, Irene gets a handle on how to orchestrate what is most commonly one of the most complicated of relationships, that of spouses.
Irene turns the table on her husband by going from receiver to conductor in a failing marriage. Where most people who create one part of a couple trip over their actions, and inadvertently stumble into relationship quagmires, when all they truly want is the exact opposite to occur, Irene devises twists and turns with complete aplomb. The author, Louise Erdich, has designed a plot that is captivating and oddly fulfilling. Her Irene will shock you with her attention to detail and calculated plans.
