Though lots of people don’t think to investigate it, riding the rails can be an exhilarating experience. I suppose not everyone is aware of the fact that along the journey to your final destination you can hop off and take tours or go on excursions. There is a great deal more flexibility involved than might be apparent, and there are more than simply a handful of truly great train journeys to discover. In fact, for those that know me personally, you can attest to the fact that I think the only trouble with train trips is that its so unbelievably hard to choose just one.

Anyone who is considering touring by train, or even a quick jaunt that brings you to your junction within half a day, should set aside some time to survey choices. As there are amazing places on offer that the miles and miles of track will navigate for your pleasure. Or, if you are looking for something even more charming, there are still horse drawn trams to be found.

Actually, if I were to set out on a spontaneous trip, I know exactly where I would go. I would head directly to the vintage railways of the Isle of Man. For, I’ve never been to that island and through my reading up on it I have added it to my journey inspiration list. It gets top billing there since I learned that it has bragging rights over some of the most remarkable heritage railways to be seen throughout the British Isles. So there is that, combined with seeing what has been called “a way of life reminiscent of a bygone era” to look forward to seeing. There is no way to top that for me.
